The Most Expensive Wedding in History is the fabulous and flamboyant wedding of Vanisha Mittal, daughter of Steel tycoon Laxmi Mittal in 2004 was a stunning spectacular to hold in the frame of memory forever. It has topped the Forbes list of “Billionaire Weddings” as the grandest for its sheer elegance and extravagance. It outshined the events hoisted by billionaires like Andrei Melnichenko of Russia, LVMH boss Bernard Arnault of France and Donald Trump of US. The 60 million dollar wedding extravaganza of Vanisha Mittal with Delhi-born and London-based Amit Bhatia is not a passing fancy but a tide against time.
The wedding arrangement from invitation card to menu at the reception was top-of-the-range in every particular. The Mittal family had invited their friends and relatives with 20-page invitation cards packed in silver boxes. The lavish and luxurious accommodation was arranged in a five star hotel of Paris for as many as 1,000 guests from across the globe. The five-day long wedding festivity was ceremoniously observed at the most renowned settings of France. The Grand Intercontinental in Paris had witnessed the final festivity of this unforgettable wedding.
One night, a posh and pompous party was thrown at Versailles and an artificial wooden castle in Parc de Saint-Cloud was the venue of another important event of the wedding. Ladies who performed and participated in the henna ceremony were offered bags of jewels. An outstanding performance by Kylie Minogue pop singer added stars to the event. 5,000 bottles of Mouton Rothschild for $1.5 million were emptied in service to the overseas guests. Performances by leading Bollywood stars like Aishwarya Rai, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukerjee and Juhi Chawla added sparkles to the wedding ceremonies.
Most of the guests who graced the world’s most expensive wedding with their mighty presence were prestigious personalities including politicians, industrialists and celebrities. Reliance chief Anil Ambani and his wife Tina, Vijay Mallya, Parmeshwar Godrej, the Hinduja brothers Gopichand, Srichand and Ashok, Praful Patel Union Civil Aviation Minister, Lalit Suri hotel tycoon, K P Singh property developer, M F Hussain renowned painter, Javed Akhtar (poet) and Shabana Azmi (actor) and Murli Deora Congress leader were to name a few amongst the high profile guests.
